Black & Gold Time Trials Information and Meet Procedures

Dear Skimmer Families,

Our Black & Gold Time Trials are almost here, and we are excited to kick off the season together!

Arrive at the Pool 8:00

Warm-Ups: 8:30 AM
Meet Start Time: 9:00 AM

All swimmers will be swimming all events during the time trials. This meet is designed to help our swimmers—especially our new families—learn how swim meets operate and understand meet procedures. These swims will also establish each swimmer’s starting times for the season, which we use to track Personal Bests (PBs) as they improve throughout the summer.

We will also have our Stroke & Turn Officials practicing during the meet as part of their training and preparation for the season.

Important Parking Note

I was just informed that there will also be BVAL Championships Finals for Track and Field taking place Saturday morning. Because of this, parking may be limited. Please plan to arrive early and be at the pool by 8:00 AM to allow time for parking and warm-ups.

Meet Procedures

When you arrive at the meet, the first thing you should do is check in at the Skimmer Check-In Table:

  • Check in your swimmer
  • Verify your volunteer job assignment for the meet

After check-in, swimmers should find the Event Board to locate their races. We will have some of our Senior Skimmers available to help younger swimmers write their events on their arms so they can remember their races and listen for announcements.

Swimmers should also write:

  • Their last name and first initial on their right shoulder
  • Their age group underneath

This helps timers and officials verify they have the correct swimmer in each lane.

Timers should always double-check the swimmer’s name in their lane, especially with our younger swimmers.

Reminder for Timers and Meet Volunteers

Please remember:

  • There should never be a phone out while working behind the blocks
  • Per USA Swimming guidelines, there is no photography or video allowed behind the blocks
  • Unless a swimmer is stepping onto the block to race, everyone else should remain behind the timers

Swim meets are fun and exciting, but we also want to be respectful of our swimmers by staying focused while volunteering. Our athletes practice very hard, and it is important that we provide accurate times and a supportive environment for them to succeed.

Don’t forget to show your Skimmer pride and wear black and yellow! When you check in show your Black and yellow and you will receive a raffle ticket for a prize.

Thank you all for helping make our meets run smoothly. We are excited to start another great Skimmer season and can’t wait to see everyone at the pool!

Go Skimmers!
