Box Boat Derby
Start: 5:00 PM
End: 8:00 PM

Build a Box Boat and Race to Victory! Join us June 13th for our 4th annual "BOX BOAT DERBY" This fun event allows swimmers and their families to interact with other swimmers as they test their teamwork and building skills outside the pool. Teams get 1.5 hours to build a boat out of cardboard and duct tape. (All boat-building supplies are provided on-site.) Once the boats are built, Judges come around to judge the boats, then the boat-building teams choose a captain to race their boats against each other to the finish line. This event is open to Friends and family members of the East County Sim League All fees from the event go to Antioch Delta Skimmers Swim Team (a 501c Non-profit youth swim club). We want to continue to keep this event alive and keep it low-cost for our families. Please help us out by donating and funding our team event.

Story

Hello,

The Antioch Delta Skimmers Swim Team is gearing up for our annual Box Boat Derby, a fun and exciting event where swimmers and their families come together to build and race boats made of nothing more than cardboard and duct tape. It's a day of teamwork, laughter, and unforgettable memories as our swimmers step outside the pool to challenge themselves and each other in new ways!

What is the Box Boat Derby?

Each year, we give teams 1.5 hours to design and construct a boat from cardboard and duct tape, and then they race these freshly built creations across the water to the finish line! It’s a great way for our swimmers to strengthen their teamwork and problem-solving skills, while families bond in a creative and spirited competition.

This year, we're excited to open the event up to the local East County Swim League, which means even more swimmers, families, and community members will join the fun. The more the merrier, right?

How Can You Help?

To make this event a success, we rely on the generosity of our sponsors to help cover the cost of supplies like cardboard, duct tape, box knives, trophies, and ribbons. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all funds raised from this event go directly to supporting the Antioch Delta Skimmers Swim Team, ensuring that our swimmers can continue to thrive and grow, both in and out of the pool.

We want to keep this event affordable for all families, but we can’t do it without your help. Every dollar counts. Your contribution will help us provide the materials and prizes that make this event so unique while supporting our swim team's continued success.

How Can You Contribute?

1) Joint the event as a participant or observer

2)  Share the event information and link with others

) Donate toward the event by adding a donation to your event registration costs at check out.

3) Donating supplies such as duct tape, box knives, or markers to the event. (email: [email protected] for information on where to send supplies)

3) Sponsor a swimmer (or a few) for the event by purchasing participant tickets for others, or you can help by donating directly to our event fund. Your generosity will make a big difference! We genuinely appreciate your support; together, we can keep this exciting tradition alive for years to come.

Thank you for your support!

With gratitude,

The Antioch Delta Skimmers Team

Also, if you have any questions or would like to get involved in another way, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d love to hear from you!
